Be Careful:  If you come here you will grow!

A Note from Fr. Michael
16 May 2019
Dear Folks:

From the personal healing department: I continue to get stronger, although it is a very slow process.
I am realizing (at long last) that this recuperation is going to take all the time that the doctors said it would.  My walking is producing results, to the extent that I am (at times painfully) aware of how atrophied my muscles had become; but as St. Paul says [Philippians 3:14], I “press on”.

I have worried about being absent from you, of us losing our partnership’s focus and the momentum we have created together.  In a real sense I have been quarantined from you and from the life of the community.  For me, the result has been that I often feel lost: Such is the powerful reality of community, that being together especially for worship brings an essential, life-giving perspective and experience.  We are members of Christ’s Body, and that phrase is certainly not a matter of mere metaphor.

So it is that this past Tuesday I met with our Wardens at my house to prepare for May’s Vestry meeting.  To re-establish the monthly convening of the ‘Executive Committee”, to create the agenda for the monthly Vestry meeting, and simply to catch up with my two, main, lay partners-in-crime was a real boost for me.  In fact, two things emerged as I met with Bonnie and Joe. Read More

Take & Eat Ministry
The Take and Eat ministry, a collaboration between St. Philip’s, Our Lady of the Valley, and Westhampton Congregational prepares and delivers weekend meals to over 90 clients in Easthampton, Southampton, and Westhampton, on the fourth Saturday of each month. This non-denominational effort serves elders and home-bound in need.

If you, or someone you know needs weekend meals in the Westhampton, Southampton, or Easthampton area, please let us know. They do not need to be enrolled in Meals on Wheels – if they need a weekend meal, we will provide for them!Read More
